This renovation focused on creating cohesion throughout the home through a carefully restrained material palette and refined interior detailing. Timber, stone, flooring, and lighting were thoughtfully integrated to establish continuity between existing and newly introduced elements.

Key Design Focus

A defining feature of the project was the relationship between the new timber ceiling, flooring selection, and staircase detailing.
Each element was designed to visually connect and reinforce a cohesive material language throughout the home.

We cannot speak highly enough of Motz Designs. Melissa literally transformed every millimetre of our home during our extensive renovation. We had decided that every interior inch should go from floor to ceiling and everything in between even our furniture.
We started afresh and Melissa’s choices have given us a new and infinitely better home in all aspects – lifestyle, functionality, beauty, harmony, individuality – in every detail.

Melissa’s design demolished walls, opened new spaces and reinvented rarely used rooms. She brought her special magic to every corner of our home.
Melissa held our hand every step of the way. To say she went the ‘extra mile’ is an enormous understatement and her builder’s team was amazing – such excellent trades.

Melissa oversaw every impeccable detail from beautiful floor tiles and curated timber flooring to gorgeous ceilings, from skirting boards to exquisite bedroom features, from stunning kitchen, striking bathrooms, superb laundry to bespoke lighting, from elegant furnishings to delicate curios.
Melissa listened to how we wanted our home to feel and she delivered in spades! We could not be happier. Anyone would be crazy to choose an interior designer other than Melissa! In our book she’s the best. We are so grateful to have chosen her. Thank you Melissa.

This project involved transforming a newly built Metricon home into a more bespoke and layered interior, thoughtfully tailored to reflect our clients’ vision of creating mood, warmth and individuality throughout the space. Engaged midway through the build, we were brought in to elevate the standard selections and introduce a more curated, atmospheric quality to the home.

Key Design Focus

A key focus throughout was scale and proportion, ensuring each interior gesture felt balanced within the context of a large home, with careful attention to detail so the interiors enhanced rather than overwhelmed the architecture.

A rich layering of texture was central to the concept, including the use of Arte wallcoverings and a considered mix of tactile finishes throughout. To reinforce the moody, grounded atmosphere, we introduced dark timber-toned furniture, adding depth and contrast while maintaining warmth and cohesion across the scheme.

A further bespoke layer was introduced through a curated artwork commission for the laundry, inspired by the client’s French bulldog. The three-piece series references her earlier years in playful domestic moments, bringing a sense of personality, storytelling and quiet charm into an otherwise functional space.

Material Pallette selection

Our scope include providing design direction on cabinetry detailing and finishes, alongside the curation of a considered interior scheme incorporating wallcoverings, custom furnishings, window treatments, furniture, lighting, artwork and styling. Each layer was carefully selected to build depth and cohesion, resulting in a home that feels refined, personal and rich in atmosphere.

Kitchen Renovation, Material Continuity and Warm Detailing

The renovation centred on reimagining the kitchen, so it felt intrinsically connected to the rest of the home, defined by coffered ceilings, timber flooring and a sweeping staircase. A refined and seamless aesthetic was pursed throughout, with each element thoughtfully designed to create visual continuity and a cohesive material language that flows effortlessly from one space to the next.

Key Design Focus

A key design focus was introducing timber detailing into the kitchen to establish warmth, continuity and a stronger connection with the adjoining living spaces. Clean lines, integrated finishes and carefully considered proportions allowed the kitchen to feel both architectural and inviting, while maintaining a timeless presence within the home.

Material Pallette selection

The material palette was designed to feel layered, warm and enduring, combining Laminex Oiled Legno with natural stone, sculptural lighting and tailored joinery finishes. Each selection was carefully considered to complement the home’s architectural character while bringing depth, texture and cohesion to the overall interior.

This project began with a focused scope for window treatments and organically evolved into a more holistic interior refinement encompassing paint colours, finishes, wallcoverings, flooring selections and soft furnishings.

Key Design Focus

As the brief developed, the intention became clear: to create a home with character, warmth and a strong emotional connection to how our clients wanted to feel within the space.

Material Palette selection

A considered palette and layered detailing were introduced to elevate the existing Hamptons style foundation, bringing softness, depth and cohesion throughout. In the living spaces, tonal blues from the kitchen were thoughtfully carried through to create a subtle sense of continuity and flow between zones, reinforcing a calm and connected interior narrative.

The master bedroom was designed as a true retreat – a quiet, restorative space that prioritises softness, texture and comfort. Through carefully curated finishes, window treatments and furnishings, the room was shaped into a private sanctuary that feels both elevated and deeply personal, offering a sense of calm at the end of each day.

Melissa from MotzDesigns is extremely professional and presented very clear easy-to-follow
ideas and concepts. Melissa has a warm, caring and gentle nature and made us feel
extremely comfortable from the beginning.

We initially engaged Melissa to provide window treatments for our renovations. After
discovering she had a diploma in interior design, we also then engaged her to assist us
with paint, wallpaper and furniture selections for our entire home. Our brief was to create
something warm, inviting and homely, with a touch of style and sophistication. We wanted
a relaxing space where family and friends felt immediately comfortable.

At each stage of our renovation, Melissa presented us with mood boards, and 3D images
and came to us with samples of what she was thinking. Nothing was too hard for her, she
respected our thoughts and listened to our ideas and then was able to piece things
together to create a unique atmosphere for each room. She was available when we were
unsure of colours or styles to talk through our options and provide her thoughts.

At the end of the process, Melissa was also able to suggest soft furnishing options which
elevated our space from a house to a home.

We would highly recommend Melissa for any job big or small. She is polite, professional
and always on time, she is willing to go that extra mile to ensure customers are
comfortable and their needs are met.

She has helped us create a home that we truly love!
